DC's NFL Top Five

by: Adam DC Thomas

1. Denver Broncos- "Can anyone stop Peyton?" Arguably already having the best season of his career Peyton Manning is tops in nearly every quarterback statistic. However, Peyton still has yet to face a top ten pass defense and last night's shootout might have revealed something about the Broncos aged swiss cheese defense.

Von Miller can't come back soon enough for this team. Despite the fact they are 5-0 and the offense shows no signs of slowing down.

2. Seattle Seahawks- "Home sweet home." I know a lot of Indianapolis fans are mad about this spot being taken by Seattle after the Colts beat the Hawks last night. However, I thought Seattle was the better team last night and that game isn't even close if it's played at Seattle. Everyone in the league better be hoping the Seahawks don't get homefield advantage throughout the playoffs or they are a shoe-in for a Super Bowl appearance. And that's not even mentioning the rain that goes along with playing at home.
Typical Day in the Northwest
On a side note, is there another quarterback outside of Peyton Manning that gets talked more about in a game than Andrew Luck? I thought I was watching a documentary on the guy last night.

3. Indianapolis Colts-"From pretender to contender." Suddenly this team has become more terrifying in a few short weeks than Hillary Clinton in striped pants.
"Hey there big fella."
Overall, they are a pretty good team with the only weaknesses being in their rush defense and passing offense. That's only a statistical weakness when referring to the passing offense Andrew Luck in crunch time turns elite as shown in last night's game against one of the best defenses leaguewide in Seattle. However they are ranked in the bottom half in the NFL in passing yards per game and 7 touchdowns to 4 turnovers isn't exactly a mind blowing stat line for Luck through 5 games.

4. New Orleans Saints-"Defense wins championships." League wide if there is a story in this season it would be the New Orleans Saints defensive unit. The defense is top ten in both fumbles forced and interceptions and the high powered New Orlean's offense finally has someone to back them up. This team is good and not being talked about much, also New Orleans is an underrated fan base.
Apparently supported by the Russian Mob.
Brees to Graham has become dangerous and he is right behind Peyton in the passing stats. This New Orleans team is my dark horse this year.

5. Kansas City Chiefs-"Winning Dirty." I take back what I said about the Saints being the story of the year. The story of the year has been the Kansas City Chiefs going from worst to first. Is it any wonder now why quarterbacks and coaches should be the top priority of any team. The chiefs got a quarterback this off-season in Alex Smith who may not be elite but doesn't turn the ball over often then got arguably one of the best coaches as well in Andy Reid who got fired in Philly after a losing season despite being one of the best coaches in the game.

You mad Philly?
Oh and that defense ain't bad either.
